Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc in NYC, downing trees and power lines, destroying a long-standing local restaurant, and even parts of buildings! It also damaged subway and vehicular tunnels by way of corrosive salt water flooding (as an extreme example, the South Ferry station on the (1) line is COMPLETELY underwater)!

In spite of this, MTA diligently restored some bus service citywide, with more restorations coming tomorrow. The subways, however, are out indefinitely! 😦

For those of you on Twitter, you can follow MTA’s official Twitter page @MTA for the latest transit-related updates; you can also visit their Web site.

If I’m able, I might venture out and snap some pix within the next few days – though I make no guarantees. The important thing is for my borough and city to continue its road to recovery – and for all of us to stand together as we do so. Stay safe and may God bless you all.
